     It's late.  You finally get done with the homework due last week, and you just want to crash.  You go to bed, and nearly instantly fall asleep.

     You sleep for what feels like an eternity.  However, it's all very restless.  You toss, and turn, and have nightmares all night of charred, spider-like corpses.  You wake, in a cold sweat, in the grass.

     You find yourself lying in a lightly wooded area covered in luscious grass.  You look around to see an elaborate sword beside you, and a sack that had been your pillow.

I take a closer look at my sword and the contents of my sack.

[Death Dark]

     The sword has a white-metal blade which glistens in the sun.  It has been thoroughly cleaned and polished.  The hilt is made out of some sort of light, gold-like metal and is encrusted with many rare jewels, the main one being a semi-transparent sapphire orb so large it extends to both sides of the hilt.  When you hold it, it feels natural.

     The sack contains a few meager food items:  a loaf of bread, an apple, and some sort of glass vial with a blue liquid in it.  Also in it, the thing you were resting your head on, was a change of clothes.  Not terribly interesting clothes, but clothes. (Note:  You are still currently wearing clothes, this is just a spare set)

I get up, tie my sack to my belt, pick up my sword, and think "Wow this is a strange dream. First a nuclear fallout, now I'm in a forest." I look around to see what else is here.

[Death Dark]

     You look behind where you were lying to find that you're on higher elevation than most of the surrounding area.  You peer down into a shallow valley to see some sort of metal wall surrounding what appears to be a town.  The road leading out of it goes in the opposite direction from you, and another branch towards you.  The road leads towards the bottom of your hill, and down the valley.  Beyond the town is a thick forest, and mountains in the distance.

I walk down to the road, and follow it to the town.

[Death Dark]

     As you draw closer, you find the wall to be a patch-work of many different sheets of metal.  You come up on two large, metal doors, shut tight, that are the only apparent way to enter the city.

I walk to the door and knock on it.

[Death Dark]

     A hard, rough voice addresses you from the other side of the doors.

     "If you're a human, state your business.  We're not interested in any other kinds."

"Umm... I believe I am lost. May I enter?"

[Death Dark]

     The doors open slowly, and you see a town of people dressed in ragged clothes.  Everywhere you see bulky machinery, as if it were keeping the town alive somehow.  In the middle of this newly created opening stands a muscular man with a beard and a beer gut.

     "Lost?  There's not many places to get lost from.  You seem to have been on the road."

"I'm sorry, I woke up on that hill over there with no memory of where I am. Can you help me?"

[Death Dark]

     "...you're crazy son.  People don't just wake up in the middle of nowhere.  But, I'll let you in, seeing as how it's getting dark.  I'm not sure how you survived the night out there..."
